Sugar Plop tips: how to make the biggest candy
Sugar Plop is a free candy merge game you play in your browser, a bit like Suika Game (the watermelon game). You drop candies into a jar, two of the same melt into a bigger one, and the jar must never fill up past the line. This guide explains every candy, how points and stars work, and the tricks that help you reach the goal of each level.

The candy ladder
There are eleven candies. Two of the same always melt into the next one on the ladder:
- Sourball
- Droplet
- Starlet
- Mint
- Jewel
- Orange Slice
- Gumball
- Marshmallow
- Moonball
- Choco Ball
- Rainbow Ball
Two Rainbow Balls do not make a bigger candy: they vanish in a shower of points. Only the small candies fall from the top; the big ones you have to build yourself. The row of dots under the jar shows the ladder, and the candy with the ring is the goal of the level.
Points, chains and the Joker
- Bigger merges score more. Each step up the ladder is worth more points than the one before.
- Chains multiply your points. When a merge sets off another merge within about a second, the points are multiplied (x2, x3 and so on).
- Earn a Joker. When six drops in a row each merge straight away, the next candy is a rainbow Joker. It melts into the first candy it touches and makes it one size bigger.
8 tips to beat a level
- Pick a corner for the big candies. Keep growing them on one side, so they stay next to each other and can merge.
- Don't bury small candies. A small candy stuck under two big ones is hard to reach. Drop small ones on the open side.
- Look at "Next". The candy after this one is shown at the top. Plan two drops ahead.
- Drop next to a twin. Aim right beside a candy of the same kind: a quick merge keeps your Joker streak going.
- Use the walls. Candies roll and bounce. Dropping against the glass makes them land where you expect.
- Watch the line. If a candy stays above the line at the top for about two seconds, the jar is full and the level is over. Clear that side first.
- Save the Joker for a big one. Drop it on your biggest candy that has no twin yet: it skips a whole step of the ladder.
- Stuck? Smash or shake. For a few coins you can smash one candy or give the jar a shake to loosen a stuck pile.
Stars and secret levels
Each level asks for a candy (or a few of them) within a number of drops. Reach the goal with drops to spare: the more drops you have left, the more stars you get. The map is split into chapters of ten levels. Collect 18 stars in a chapter and a secret level opens, each with its own twist: a jar full of sugar lumps, a rain of tiny candies, a narrow chimney, giant chunks or a hunt for the Moonball.
Other ways to play
- Free Play: no goal and no drop limit, just go for your highest score.
- Daily challenge: everyone gets the same jar and 40 drops, without helpers, so scores are fair. Share your result with friends.
- Weekly tournament: a leaderboard on the Tiltwick home page.
Questions
- What is the biggest candy in Sugar Plop?
- The Rainbow Ball. Merge two Rainbow Balls and they disappear in a shower of points.
- How do I get a Joker?
- Make six drops in a row that each merge straight away. The next candy is then a Joker, which makes any candy one size bigger.
- What happens when the jar is full?
- If a candy stays above the line for about two seconds, the level ends. In Free Play you can continue once by clearing the top of the jar.
- Is Sugar Plop the same as Suika Game?
- The idea is the same: drop and merge in a jar. Sugar Plop uses candies, and adds levels with a goal, stars, secret levels, a daily challenge and a weekly tournament.
- Is it free?
- Yes. You play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, without a download or an account.
