Gotcha Gumdrop: every trap explained
Gotcha Gumdrop is a free troll platformer in your browser, like Level Devil but with a glass candy marble. Every level looks easy: roll to the door. Then the floor drops away, spikes pop up or the door runs off. This guide explains every kind of trap and how to get past it, without spoiling every level.

Controls
- Phone or tablet: the arrow pad rolls the marble, the pink button jumps.
- Computer: arrow keys or A and D to roll; Up, W or Space to jump; R to restart.
Three worlds, 36 levels
Levels 1 to 12 are in Cookie Land, 13 to 24 in Ice Peaks and 25 to 36 in Choco Factory. Your stars depend on how often you die: two deaths or fewer gives three stars, up to eight gives two, and any finish gives one.
Every kind of trap
- Falling floor: a piece of floor drops as you reach it. Jump just before the edge, or wait for it to fall and find another way.
- Fake floor: it looks solid, but you roll right through it. Test a suspicious tile with a short hop.
- Pop-up spikes: hidden spikes shoot up when you pass a certain point. Once you know where, jump over that spot.
- Runaway door: the door moves away when you get close. Watch where it goes; sometimes you have to get there first.
- Stompers and pistons: blocks that crush you on a rhythm. Count the beat and roll through right after one hits.
- Moving blocks: lifts that drop you, and spike wagons that chase you. Keep moving.
- Crumble path: the floor crumbles behind (or under) you. Don't stop.
- Rising syrup or chocolate: the level floods from below. Go up first, explore later.
- Upside down: gravity flips and you roll on the ceiling.
- Left is right: the controls swap. Take your time and tap instead of holding.
- Lights out: part of the level goes dark. Remember the floor before the lights go.
- Portals and secret blocks: a portal takes you elsewhere, and some invisible blocks only show up when you bump into them.

7 tips to die less
- If it looks safe, it probably isn't. An empty stretch to the door is the biggest warning sign.
- Go slow the first time. Your first try is for finding the traps, not for winning.
- Traps stay in place. Most traps are in the same spot every try, so remember them. But watch out: a few levels change their mind once you think you know them.
- Stop before the obvious spot. Just before a gap, a door or a lone block, pause and see what happens.
- Sometimes the way forward is back. A door that runs off, or a floor that falls, can open a path behind you.
- Look up, too. Icicles, stompers and blocks overhead are traps as well. If the ceiling is low, expect it to move.
- Laugh and retry. Restarting is instant. Dying is half the fun, and a few deaths still give three stars.
Really stuck? After eight deaths in a level you can skip it for a few coins.
Questions
- Is Gotcha Gumdrop like Level Devil?
- Yes. It is a troll platformer where the level tricks you, like Level Devil or Trap Adventure, but with a glass candy marble in 3D candy worlds.
- How many levels does Gotcha Gumdrop have?
- 36 levels in three worlds: Cookie Land, Ice Peaks and Choco Factory.
- How do I get three stars?
- Finish the level with two deaths or fewer. Learn the traps first, then go for a clean run.
- Does it work on older computers?
- Yes. The game is in 3D, but a browser without 3D support gets the classic 2D version automatically, and the sparkle menu has a faster graphics setting.
- Is it free?
- Yes. You play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, without a download or an account.
