The town square of Tiltwick under the snow

Winter comes to Tiltwick, and every roof gets its own snow

For a town that is supposed to be freezing, Tiltwick looked suspiciously like July. Not anymore: when winter falls, the whole square turns white.

Tiltwick has had seasons for a while now. In the game, winter meant cold weeks and, on Full rules, the cold coming to knock on your door. But the town itself? It looked exactly like July. Green roofs, dry cobbles, not a snowflake in sight. A little odd for a place that is supposed to be freezing.

Now the 13 houses on the old square have a winter version, with snow on their crooked roofs. The well and the square itself turn white too. It stays that way untill spring comes back.

Same house, different coat

Here is the tricky part. A winter house must have exactly the same shape as its summer house. Not roughly: exactly. When the season turns, the picture swaps in place, and if the bakery is two pixels wider in winter, you see it jump.

The bakery and the tavern in summer and in winter
Summer and winter, side by side. Same bricks, more snow.

ChatGPT painted each house in the snow, starting from its summer picture. A small tool then cleans up the stray pixels it leaves on the see-through background, so only the house and its snow remain. And while a winter picture is still loading, the summer house just stays where it is. Better a green roof for a second than a hole in the square.

The wide board on a computer and the square board on a phone both get their snowy version.

Bring a coat

A tip from the Gazette: winter is when a warm coat from the tailor earns its keep. On Full rules, at least. On Relaxed, the cold stays at home and you can just enjoy the view.
