Update · Sugar Plop
Sugar Plop moves into a painted candy town
The jar is the same. The candies are the same. But the view out of the window just got a whole lot sweeter.
Sugar Plop is simple. You drop candies into a jar, two of the same merge into a bigger one, and you try not to let the jar overflow. If you have played Suika Game, you know the itch. If you haven't: you're welcome, and sorry about your evening.
Until now that jar stood in front of a plain background. Fine, but flat. Meanwhile, in a back room, we have been testing a 3D version of Sugar Plop. That test came with something lovely: a painted world with a sky, a town far away, crooked candy houses and a shop counter.
Borrowing the backdrop
The 3D version isn't ready yet. But that backdrop was far too nice to leave in a drawer. So now it sits behind the normal 2D game: sky, town, houses and counter, all painted, with your jar right in front.
A busy picture behind a game is asking for trouble, though. You want to see your candies, not a gingerbread chimney. So there is a soft dark haze behind the jar, and the buttons, the goals and the candy ladder got a dark backing, so they stay easy to read. It acutally makes the candies pop more than before.
"Same jar, same candies. Just a much nicer view."
What stays the same
The game itself, and the level map. Your progress is safe, your coins are safe, and your record is still yours to beat. And the 3D version? It is still in the back room. We will let you know.
